Legal Associate

  • You will work with a diverse team of former investment bankers, strategy consultants and business owners in developing, monitoring and improving products to facilitate the activity of private investing
  • Everything we do is focused on helping build the private capital markets for the next generation of business owners and investors

Job purpose
  • Report directly to the Senior Legal Counsel on all legal and compliance matters
  • Proactively assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating with external counterparts on a variety of commercial and transactional agreements including operations, service, partnership, and marketing agreements
  • Prepare regulatory reports 
  • Assist in resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, and handling pre-litigation disputes and inquiries
  • Assist in corporate governance and compliance-related matters including  data privacy and cyber security
  • Assist in monitoring changes to regulatory requirements and proactively handle regulatory developments
  • Provide time-sensitive support on a wide array of legal inquiries on all operational aspects
  • Identify and consult on legal risks in connection with the company’s developments
  • Track and organise department contracts database

Roles and responsibilities
  • Law degree from a recognised university and 3 to 5 years’ post qualification experience with some experience in a law firm. Prior in-house experience is also welcome
  • Admitted to practice in Malaysia or a Commonwealth jurisdiction
  • Fluent in English —articulate and strong drafting skills
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to demonstrate sound legal and business judgment, even in ambiguous situations

  • Detail-oriented
  • An independent worker that nevertheless also works well in a team
  • Strategic-minded, highly detail-oriented and quantitatively strong 
  • Self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic and high pressure environment
  • A strong background or interest in fintech, blockchain, and regulatory compliance in Malaysia or in other countries
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
